I am a professional designer and artist. All my life I have been developing my visual awareness. Looking at images whether in fashion, fine art, cartoons, or photography. Texture, colour, line, perspective and shading have been my reading books.
During my early adult life I spent many years in South East Asia. The environments and cultures I experienced during this time have had a huge impact on my artwork to date. On returning to the UK I went back to education as a mature student. After completing an art foundation course I went on to UWIC to study Contemporary Textile Practice, where I was rewarded with a First Class Degree Honours.
The canvasses I create draw very much on my textile background, I like to use the paint to enhance colour and create texture. When constructing a collaged piece I use a collection of anything from photocopied images to stitch work.
Mural commissions are undertaken on request by the client. Using my background in design I strive to mirror their personal interpretation of theme and style. I work well with colour and have a good understanding of using acrylic paints. I am fascinated by Trompe L’Oeil and perspective and love to use this in my work wherever possible.
