Last Night In December

I’m sorry about the noise
Of all this traffic passing by
I’m standing in that phonebox
On the corner of North and Pine
I just got in from Melbourne
On my way to Batemans Bay
They’ve got me hauling brand new cars
It keeps me moving, keeps me paid

Is Jake in bed
I guess he’s sleeping sound
Do you still sing him lullabies
Your favourite prayer sung out loud
Don’t worry, I won’t come around
I remember all the rules
Whatever you think I am these days
I hope I’m not a fool

A champagne bottleAnd an old doorbellAuld lang syneYou wore ChanelAnother night to rememberThe last night in December

Next week is my school reunion
I don’t have have much to show
I’ve got that photo of Jake playing
In his red scarf up at the snow
I suppose we’ll all be older
We’ll all have found someone to need
No one any wiser
Or maybe that’s just me

A champagne bottleAnd an old doorbellAuld lang syneYou wore ChanelAnother night to rememberThe last night in December

(Well) I’m all out of change
This line could drop out anytime
Give Jake all of my love
Tell him I’m doing just fine
I hope this rain eases soon
It’s like someone’s crying on these streets
And tell him…
No, don’t
Forget it
Let him sleep, let him sleep

A champagne bottleAnd an old doorbellAuld lang syneYou wore ChanelAnother night to rememberThe last night in December

David – before I read the desription on the right I was thinking that this ought ot be a song…and hey presto – there’s your word song under description.

I felt the beat in this…it has a definite pulse and so so moving….lovely!
can we hear this song somewhere?

I have two guitars and I can’t play either of them, so this song currently exists as words only. Thanks for the feedback.
