The smiling monster (cropped) by

Main scene cropped from The smiling monster

This drawing is about a confusing situation of rape by a seemingly good guy, who had no clue it was rape…
The victim is scarred for life, as all victims of sex abuse are. Violent rape by a stranger is more traumatic in one way, but when you are raped by someone you trusted, the damage can be even greater, at times.

It’s NOT A PENCIL DRAWING – it’s a pointillistic INK drawing, like all my other drawings.

Very inspiring, would be a good piece in a book, have you thought of writting a book for your work some of it is great.

  • Someone in Finland had a similar suggestion (if I got you right), but I didn’t consider it seriously so far – wonder if something like this can sell at all… Well, she talked of simply making a book with my drawings, while you may talk about writing stories around them too? Anyway, I appreciate your idea a lot, and the fact that you find my work good enough for a book ;-) Thank you sooo much, Keith!

  • Thank you Yool, I appreciate it a lot! I used to be an artist for a long time, then started giving it up, sort of… RB may get me back on trail ;-)

Gili, This is a wonderful art piece paired with your important message about date rape that can be more traumatic when you trust someone you know. This also applies to the trauma of incest. Your drawing is technically great and I love how you integrated a serious message with this amazing illustration,

  • It may very well relate to the trauma of incest as well… not sure. Most of my drawings are terribly serious, though may at times hold some humor as well. Perhaps it’s my Jewish heritage – being able to see (or show) the humor even in horrible situations…
Thanks for the compliments and for adding it to your favorites, Julie! Much appreciated.

    I so love this!
Your whimsical monster really drew me in; it is a gorgeous work of art; your narrative touch a deep chord & the combination of them both I feel is stunningly important. Packaged together I feel this is powerful beyond words and I hope to hear of you following up on the book idea!

  • Oh, I LOVE your comment, Jolie! If you have any concrete ideas on how to go about such a book, I would be happy to hear it. Practical stuff and marketting myself are both part of my weakest qualities/talents ;-) I am a writer, too, in a way, so it is in principle possible to combine. I lost a big part of my drawings (not the ones I show here) about 8 years ago, when leaving my ex and leaving (almost) all behind, so I am not sure if I have enough material, either.
