“Watershow-off II” was featured in the group All That Is Nature.
This photo was made in Wissel Zoo in Epe, The Netherlands.
A group of Pink-backed Pelicans (Pelecanus rufescens) was into courtship and mating rituals. Most other Pelicans crowded on (and next to) big nests on trunks of fallen trees (on water), occasionally spreading their wings and making courting gestures with their heads and necks.
This particular Pelican, however, was busy showing-off in the water, forcefully flapping its wings every few minutes, making an impressive water-show (probably in an attempt to impress and attract a prospective mate).
Excellent pic, really like the tones, framing and water vibrations
Thanx, Michael! Rabi likes the other one better, and for myself I am not sure anymore… There is more movement or activity in the other, but there are more nuiances of water here, I think.
