Theatre of the Château de Chimay - Belgiumby Gilberte
This is a scanned picture postcard This rococo-style theatre was built in 1863 in replacement of a former theatre. It was entirely restored with the help of the Wallonia Region in 1991 and is now used for Chimay’s summer music festival. Gérard Corbiau’s film “Le maître de Musique” was partly turned here with José Van Dam as Bass-bariton singer. In 1999 he sang Franck’s Panis Angelicus at the wedding of Crown Prince Philippe and Princess Mathilde of Belgium. He was created a Belgian Baron in 1998 in recognition of his musical achievements and continues to perform and give master-classes.
Utterly fantastic. I have always loved the rococo style. It is done so beautifully here. It amazes me how they can put such designs, colors and textures together and develop something so gorgeous. Thanks, Gilberte for sharing this with us. What splendor!!!
Thank you Sue.So glad you like my reportage.wish I could show you in reality.
