Under the Bridge
Sydney woke up this morning (23rd September, 2009) to an incredibly eerie morning of a red dust storm over the city. A very surreal experience that provided an unusual photographic opportunity.

Nice work Gigee!! I hear the weather’s been pretty wild up there. There goes all the topsoil from the red centre!

Thanks Merrilyn. I feel for the farmers, hopefully a one off for us in Sydney, but they have it dust storms all too often. It was certainly a surreal experience waking up and seeing such a red sky!

GiGee…..you’ll have a fantastic time in Austi when you come to visit… the beaches are stunning and there is bush walking on the escarpment…. it’s a very beautiful place…...maybe we can have coffee…..:)
GiGee replied
Would love to have a coffee, I think it is the weekend of 5/6 Dec we are down. We found your little patch of world on a day drive and had a great time on the dog beach just to the side of the Headland Hotel. Roll on Dec :)

i remember the dust storm of 1983, seeing it rolling in, taking up the entire sky and thinking it must be the end of the world.

Amazing photo, thanks for the link. I’ve never encountered a dust storm like it in the city, but it had the eerie lighting as the Ash Wednesday fires.
