Qantas A380 arrives at LAX on Oct 20, 2008 and stops behind 707B owned by John Travolta. This particular 707 is actually the very first 707 purchased by Qantas and has been repainted to specs.

A classic shot – we have come a long way
One of those “once in a lifetime” shots! Well done!
worlds best airline re unites with a bit of the past and future, well done and great capture
Great shot. I am amazed that you have been able to get this shot at LAX and there are no other planes in the shot. When i was there last, the planes were everywhere. it is such a busy place.
Hi. I’ve enjoyed your aviation photos immensely. How did you shoot some of those photos? Mind-boggling stuff! My father flew with Qantas for over 30 years; he was a flight engineer. He flew every QF aircraft from the Constellations to the 747-200.
If I may make one point regarding this photo. The 707B shown here (owned by John Travolta) is the last Qantas 707B purchased, the thirteenth aircraft I believe. I’m not too sure of it’s registration nbr. The first QF 707B in service was registered VH-EBA, (now QF-XBA) and is now a feature aircraft at the Qantas Founders Museum – Longreach, Queensland.
All that aside, thank you so much for this and all your wonderful photos. This must be heaven for all aviation enthusiasts. Great stuff!!!!! :-)
PS: I have personally flown on both these aircraft… VH-EBA was in 1972: SIN/BAH/DAM/FCO and SIN/BNE/SYD. The later was in 1972: SYD/NAN/HNL and 1973: SFO/JFK/LHR. These are the ones I remember. I did a lot of 707 flights as a youngster.
Thanks Neil. I just shoot what looks like it’d look nice. While I was able to go on board on the A380 while it was on the ramp, that is a drop in a bucket when one considers you’ve had the experience of flying on board both of these aircraft! Props to you!
