Georgiana (by Soxy)

Scissors and Glue, Scissors and Glue

It has been noticed that out there in Red Bubble Land there are some talented artists working in The Fine Old Fashioned Medium of Scissors and Glue (no digital involvement).

This is the inspiration for our next visual forum. That is, hunt high and low for them (or go to the shop and buy) utilize the Scissors and Glue and NO DIGITAL INVOLVEMENT (but you know we are very forgiving here).

Also in this journal we want to SEE your scissors! Some of us are collectors you know!

And as an added attraction we shall be serving tea….so put that in too…and if we get tea-y enough we might be able to go into the Tea and Chairs group so you could probably put some chairs in too

These scissors defied auto focus specifically in order to trick your brain into thinking you didn’t have your glasses on.

Can you believe that anyone ever designed scissors like these?

Is that a dagger I see before me? No…it’s a pair of Japanese scissors.

There will be some Good Old Fashioned Collage too…but that will take a little longer than photos of scissors. But both are in order here in this room of Georgiana’s house, so get started!

    What fun, Georgiana!
My real collages are mostly framed but I can “sort of” photograph them thru the glass… I can try to capture the scissors, though. I can always use the disclaimer about purposeful trickery…

so looking forward to your collages and scissors

I think these are sewing scissors? A small gift brought from Toledo, Spain, by a friend …many years ago. For all that they were certainly not expensive, the Toledo Blades have served me well.

    Very tiny scissors! Thank you!
Yes, it is a old book, before there were publishers’ dates…”Prue and I’ by George Wm. Curtis [a bookkeeper!].

    approximate age?

Hard to tell. With cravats, waistcoats and carriages, the lithograph of the author…maybe late 19th century? It is a pretty book.

Thanks for the coment on ‘This England’ Georgiana.
I actually loaded it up because the first ‘England’ was just me playing, so I thought I’d show you the original!
Yours is lovely, nice balance with the positionof elements and colour.
Wow all those scissors….mine never last long enough, they usually get thrown out by mistake!

    Georgiana Dear, ARTICULATION
    supports your INVOLVEMENT
    with SCISSORS and GLUE.

BUT, we are very slow-motioned fogeys.
So, be prepared to see a spell of time
before real INVOLVEMENT on our part.

We are working on it, though,
    amongst other Poodle’s Doodles.

SCISSORS RULE & NEVERR DIE !

P.S.: CONGRATICULATIONS to YOU ALL !

How did I miss this? I am going to have to get my scissors out to the closet! Working very hard on an art show… so next week I’ll give it a try. Really like the new one, Georgiana. You’re getting good at this. I was going to say that you learned Photoshop very quickly, too.

I’ve been living in some kind of vacuum for 15 years….now that I’m out of it the vacuum remaining in my head is sucking stuff in really fast, so to stop my head exploding I have to keep getting it all out again. These collages are so much fun….the dishes don’t get done, the dinner doesn’t get cooked…but strange people all over the world from all eras appear before me and tell their stories.

Have a great show (doco pictures for a journal maybe?).

Soxy is hanging her exhibition tomorrow early in the morning (so musn’t stay up late tonight…haha impossible)

Hello fellow old school cut and paste types!
Here are my terribly boring but very well loved scissors…hence the hearts

I have been known to be disloyal to these scissors, and have grabbed any old scissors when in the heat of the creative moment…you know, when you suddenly SEE what needs to be cut out and need to do it immediately.
However, when in a more considered and sensible frame of mind (rare- but it does happen occasionally), I would infinitely prefer to use these scissors- even if it means hunting under piles of scraps of paper and books and whatever else I have buried them under.
This is a delightful idea Georgiana- as is your work!

    Thank you Miss Georgiana!
Yes, I am familiar with the excellent work of purelydecorative [waves a ‘hello’] .
My, am I the only one who uses miniature scissors? I would surely do damage
    with larger ones.
