I live in the beautiful Eastern Sierra Mountains in Bishop, California USA.Here we have the beautiful White Mountains and the rugged Sierras, also desert valley between. I am about 60 miles from Nevada. It is one of my favorite beautiful places. This area is truly one of the most varied areas as far as landscape. A photographers dream.

  • Thanks so much Arla,by the way,on our local t.v. network, they had a small piece on the Mustangs of Montgomery Pass. The announcer said they were keeping an eye on the herds.and for now they will leave them alone and not shoot them. I about died! Is this even legal? Shoot Them? Hopefully Not!.

It is NOT legal to shoot BLM mustangs. Horses outside designated “Horse Areas” are not protected under the Free-Roaming and Wild Horses & Burros Act of 1971. They are considered “feral” – even tho they may be as wild as the others. It is not legal to shoot them, either – unless authorized by BLM or the US Forest Service. Craziness!!

  • Thanks Arla.makes me feel somewhat better. I can’t even imagine shooting one of these beautiful horses.

You captured some action in this one. They are so pretty and it’s so good to see them running free.

  • Yes,usually they just stand and stare.
