Gerry Van der Walt
Profile
Hi,
My relationship with photography started many years ago as a means to try and remember the people I met and places I saw while working on the Queen Mary 2.
Since then this mild fascination has grown into something a whole lot bigger and I feel I have finally reached the point from where I can now seriously focus on growing my portfolio and shooting style.
I have shot a couple of weddings and portraits which is something I am looking at doing a whole lot more of but my true passion lies in the heart of Africa.
I am fortunate enough to live in and work in a Big 5 Game Reserve in South Africa which gives me plenty of opportunities of following this passion. Now it is all to easy to just snap away and get nice images of the wild, but I believe there is more.
My challenge is not only to create beautiful images, but to capture the ‘essence’ of the moment. I hope that the resulting images show African Wildlife in it’s purest form – raw, beautiful, unedited and completely unique – and this is what keeps me going!
Even though at times it is very frustrating, all my images are taken in the wild in various Game and Nature Reserves across Africa.

I am an Explorer member of the Endangered Wildlife Trust and 25% of all profits from my Red Bubble sales will be donated to them.

Thank you for viewing my work and I appreciate your feedback and comments!
