Solomon Walker
wow! this is a beauty! I wish I had a lens to get that close…
GerryMac replied
Cheers Solomon! I need to share a little thing with you about this capture… I was actually playing around with a Jewellers Loupe the small magnifying glass they use to look at gems and rings etc. I put my camera (canon 400D) on a tripod and set it up very close to the window sill and put my watch on there. I used my wired remote relase to take the shot. The hard bit was placing the loupe infront of the lense without blocking all the light. I also had it on manual focus… I would really like to get a proper macro lense… Christmas maybe!!

GerryMac replied

Is it a distortion because of the loupe or is it real motion blur? Whatever it is, I like this shot. The blue tones are great as well as the very selective focussing.
GerryMac replied
spot on Peter, the DOF is so tight with the loupe but it can create amazing effects! plus so hard to keep it steady as it is handheld! cheers mate! :)
Mike Barletta
