Cockburn Street
Cockburn Street Edniburgh Scotland just love the look of these amazing buildings and the wave they seem to ‘wrap’ gently around the street…
The broad sweep of Cockburn Street runs from the High Street on the Royal Mile towards Waverley Station. It was built by the “Edinburgh Railway Station Access Company”, starting in 1859. The previous buildings were demolished to make way for the new street. Surprisingly, it is named after Lord Henry Cockburn who was a judge, advocate and journalist – and an outspoken conservationist. The Cockburn Society in Edinburgh now seeks to preserve the old buildings and architectural features in the city.
Cockburn Street belongs to the following groups:
Anything Edinburgh, Architectural Photography, Scotlands History and The Scots are Coming Available for sale asGreeting Cards, Matted Prints, Laminated Prints, Mounted Prints, Canvas Prints and Framed Prints

Know it well! I was born in Edinburgh in Caledonian Crescent nearl Dalry. At that time we were quite poor; no bath in the house, we used the public baths. Nine people living in a one bedroomed groundfloor tenament building. However, they were some of the happiest years of my life. Don.
GerryMac replied

GerryMac replied
Yes I think that is the one…. I will put it up for you to see and if you know the name I will change the title Thanks Chris!
