The Morning after a Big Snowstorm in Toronto, ON, Canada by

As those of you who live in the GTA (Greater Toronto Area) of Ontario, Canada know, this photo could not have been taken this year, since so far we have had no snow at all, let alone a big snowstorm! I took this photo 4 years ago from a window of the 7th storey condo apartment we live in, which overlooks this pretty neighbourhood of single family homes. I shot this with the Nikon D80 I then owned.

I’m a photographer living in Toronto, ON, Canada. I enjoy photographing the architecture, street life, plants and water fowl in my home city. I also love travel photography and capturing reflections on all possible reflective surfaces.

How lovely, great rooftop scene! I was wondering when I saw the title, since we have no snow yet in Montreal and I didn’t remember hearing on the news that TO had been hit. Although we had little snow last year, they are predicting large snowfalls this year, I think…

  • Thank you very much, Joanne! Yes, we’ve been lucky (or unlucky, depending on how you look at it) as far as snow is concerned. Not a bit of it yet. Looks like Montreal (my original hometwon) has been free of it this year, too. Not like the old days! I can remember really deep snow in Montreal when I was growing up. Also, during the winter of 2005, I think it was, when I had to go to Montreal because of a death in the family, there was a huge snowstorm—beautiful, but not easy to get around in.

Brr, looks really cold. The winter sun and the snow heighten the contrasts. Looks like someone has cleared the road already:-) Kasia

  • Thank you very much, Kasia! Yes, it was cold during that storm as I remember!
