The white on white, punctuated by the orange and blacks of the swans’ beaks and feet makes the sight of these two birds walking on the frozen lake magical. Shot a Harbourfront here in Toronto, Ontario, Canada in January, 2011 with my Nikon D7000.

Thank you so much for the Feature, Debra Lee! It is truly an honour and I’m delighted!
beautiful shot .. I got some in High Park walking on ice and they walk extremely careful lol
Thank you so much, Elaine. Yes they do walk really cautiously on the ice. I have a photo of a trumpeter swan on the ice down at Harbourfront and it was actually walking “pigeon-toed” to keep from slippings.
Such an elegant nature image, Gerda, and so perfectly composed…Grenadier Pond is not yet entirely frozen over so the resident Mute Swans there are not yet forced to walk on the ice…
Thank you so much, Katherine. This is one of my personal favourites.
Thank you so much for the Feature, Auntie J. It’s a real honour and I’m delighted!
Thank you so much, Mary! This is a real thrill, since there were so many wonderful images in the Challenge! Many congratulations to all the Top Ten, and especially to the winner for her exquisite image!
