The gallery that Torontonians know as the AGO is, to give its full name, the Art Gallery of Ontario (Canada). In the very early years of this century, it was decided that that AGO needed an architectural revitalization. Famous Toronto-born architect Frank Gehry was entrusted with the task of coming up with an appropriate redesign for the building that both respected its architectural heritage and embodied an exciting and useful re-envisioning. The road from the decision to revitalize the AGO to the re-opening of the Gehry redesigned building in 2008 did not always run smoothly (see this Wikipedia article for more information, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Art_Gallery_of_Ont...), but most now find the “new” AGO a real asset to the city. I shot this photo a few days ago (April 2, 2011) with my Nikon D3000 camera.
