Bonaire is one of the three Cabibbean islands (Aruba, Bonaire and Curacao) known, until very recently, as the ABC Netherlands Antilles islands. According to our local island guides, the Netherlands Antilles have now been disolved as an entity, and each of the 3 islands has either already established or is in the process of establishing a new relationship to the “mother country”. The population of the islands is diverse and includes descendants of African slaves, Arawak Indians and of various Europeans countries, and of mixtures of all these. The architecture of all 3 islands shows clear evidence of Dutch influence in style, and of the Caribbean region in its lively pastel colours. Shot with my Nikon D7000 and post processed using PS CS5 and Nik filters.
