Brookfield Place, formerly BCE Place, in downtown Toronto, Ontario, Canada is a fascinating structure containing both modern and heritage elements. The new parts of the complex, which houses, among other things, part of Toronto’s Hockey Hall of Fame, a Food court and many upscale law offices and shops, were built around some of Toronto’s oldest buildings. Perhaps the best known—and most photographed—part of the complex is the soaring, graceful Allen Lambert Galleria designed by Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava. In this shot, we see the beautiful Galleria made absolutely magical by holiday decorations lit by warm, purple light. I was lucky enough to walk into the Galleria just minutes before the beautiful purple lights were turned on for the evening—and even luckier to have my camera with me. Shot with my Nikon D7000.
