After almost 4 days in Jordan, am back to Lebanon.
The trip was amazing, we stayed two nights in Amman-one night in Aqaba and visited several touristic and religious sites.
I will be posting some of the pictures I took, although am not satisfied with most of them because of the weather, and for a second reason that the sites were crowded so I couldn’t take the pictures the way i wanted to.
The visit began in “Jerash”, being one of the largest and most well preserved sites of Roman architecture in the World.
The second day was the visit we were all waiting for:“Petra”, although much has been written about Petra, nothing really prepares you for this amazing place. It has to be seen to be believed,it is without doubt Jordan’s most valuable treasure and greatest tourist attraction. We were told by the guide that in order to visit the whole site, we need from four to five days at least, so we had to visit the most important places such as the Roman-style theater and the treasury (Al-Khazneh).
You can not visit Jordan without passing by the “Baptism site of Jesus Christ”,this unique site is where 2000 years ago Jesus came to see John to be baptized by him. After that we continued to the “Dead Sea Spa”.The Dead Sea is one of the most saline lakes in the world, I guess around 31%. In recent years, the Dead Sea area has become a health, rehabilitation, recreation and beauty spa.
The last two sites we visited were “Madaba” where the first mosaics were discovered, the Madaba Mosaic Map is an index map of the region, dating from the sixth century CE, preserved in the floor of the Greek Orthodox Basilica of Saint George and “Mount Nebo” where you can see from the summit a panorama of the Holy Land.According to Jewish and Christian tradition, Moses was buried on this mountain by God himself, and his final resting place is unknown.
And of course we visited “Wadi Rum” (Rum Valley) where we went for a 4×4 Safari, and the visit to Aqaba was so refreshing as well, we had a trip in a glass boat where we could see the coral and beautiful marine life of the Red Sea.
Overall it was a very fun trip, the Jordanians are very friendly and polite people. Not to forget that I had the best “Sushi” ever in Amman:).
