A rainy morning in Red Rock Preserve, West of the city of Las Vegas. The desert air was thick with the smell of Sage and Creosote as the sun rose and illuminated the sandstone faces with morning light. This shot was taken with a Nikon D-90 18-105mm @ 66 mm,1/200, f5.3, iso 200, hand held VR-on, and a circular polarizer.

Nice one! I see you use a D90.. I’m stuck with a D40 for now but really trying to upgrade to a D90.. I CAN’T WAIT but I simply can’t afford it now.. how’s yours treating you? Love the light in this scene!

  • Thank you for your thoughts on “Morning Rain”. Your D-40 is a very good camera. I started with a D-70 and upgraded last July to the D-90…two years into its production. It was a very good step up for me and was more affordable because of the age of its technology. I will hopefully get a full frame digital in a couple more years but in the meantime, I am going to try and think about getting the shot and saving for a couple more lenses that will work on the DX D-90 and a full frame fx. I wish I would have started photography at your age. You will do fine if you keep at it. Time is on your side. I looked at your work and I like what you are doing. Keep at it. Whats most important is the passion ,finding and focusing on what your interests are, and then doing it. You are well on your way.

Thank you for your compliment. I read your Bio and hope all works out for you. I believe every artist has to find a comfort level, a place and time in life where you can be free to have time to experiment on as close to your terms as possible. You are very talented, don’t search too long, Concentrate on finding yourself first and how you interact as one of those trees in the forest of life and make a stand. Life is short and time is a gift. This is just one man’s opinion (the short version)Good Luck…George
