A new year, another attempt at being organised! by georgiegirl

Posted on January 02, 2012

Happy New Year to all of you!!! Its going to be a wonderful year (it will I tell you… it has no choice!!!) and with any luck, I’ll finally be really good at time management and fit everything in that I want to do each and every day! Wish me luck :D

To start off with, I’ve organised all my work notes and to do lists that have been gathering over the past ‘few’ months… I rewrote them all onto a couple of pages in one of those groovy Behance Action notebooks. You know, the ones with spots instead of lines. Love it… the paper smells and feels beautiful. You do understand though, that just because its written out all neat (sort of) and in a big long list, its no promise that it’ll all get done in the timeframe I’ve given it!! I wish. Its a good thing I love my work!

I know you all are so busy as well these days and you probably don’t have time to read this essay… but that’s why we ‘fave’ stuff… so we can save it for later (and get back to it months later only to find its been removed!!! But you’ll be safe with me, I don’t throw anything out! Not necessarily a good thing I hear.)

I’m going to make sure I stay creative throughout the year (again), but even more. I loved it last year… but also found I get a bit narky if I haven’t been drawing or creating in any way for a week or so. Last year, as well as creating ATCs (Art Trading Cards), greeting cards and a couple of scrappy pages I even managed to make Christmas cards, yay!! Finally… I’ve been saying I want to make cards for years but always run out of time. But last year, I even sent them out… sorry if you didn’t get one, I only actually made 7! lol Better than none, hey?
I even got the camera out a few times. Not as often as I’d like but still… better than not at all or just using it for product closeups like I’ve been doing. Good studio practice… all I need is proper studio lighting and I’m set!
I did get some gorgeous pics of this huge ladybug that was visiting our wattle tree back in October or November. Of course they’re stuck in a folder on the computer… but that’s halfway to RB! They’ll get here eventually… along with others that are sitting there patiently waiting for my attention.
I’ve also signed up to be part of the ‘Sketchbook Project’ with the theme of something to do with owls… its a skinny little book they send out, but we can add pages or change how it opens as much as we like (but no thicker than 1 inch). Good thing I’ve until April or I’d be in trouble!!

Bought some yummy new pencils recently… a pressie for myself. You know, cos I don’t have enough watercolours!!! But these are Derwent Intense watercolours, permanent on paper and fabric when soluble!!! Mmmm, I love new pencils. They’ll go well with all the paints, papers, textas, fabrics (and embroidery UFOs) and other arty stuff I have surrounding me, nagging me to fob off work and play. That’s where I hope these time management skills will come into effect… if I ever get learn how to use them!

At least my fellow Bubblers have been busy creating gorgeous masterpieces, winning prizes, being featured in places outside of RB and have been selling too! Awesome!!! Congrats to you all… keep up the incredible work and have a wonderful day!!!

Happy bubbling,
:D

lol; sound like me! Hehe, well this has been an enjoyable read for me. I can totally relate; want to do so much but not enough time! And even when we make goal to have things done by a certain time; it doesn’t really happen that way. But when we just gotta do what we can!

  • georgiegirl:

hee hee… I’m so pleased to hear you enjoyed the read!! Yes, we all (at RB anyway) seem to be similar in how we approach our lives… creatively and full-on. My sweet boss told me the other day that we can only do one thing at a time… of course she’s right, but it doesn’t stop us (me) stressing over trying to do it all at once!! lol Thank you for your thoughts and kind words :D x

Your words speak to me as though I were writing them myself, with a few exceptions, of course!!!
May 2012 BE… and may we float along with it, in some semblance of order… I only hope that when I am floating along beside my intentions to be organised that I also accept that there are some things that are bound to be unorganised!! Big big big big hugs and lots and lots of laughs!!! Love Cyclone xox :))))
