The rocky part of Betty’s Beach on the Southern Ocean in the south west of Western Australia. This would be in the region of 500 kms from Perth and about 60 kms east of Albany. It is VERY isolated – the guy in the picture was one of a mere handful of campers who were enjoying a couple of weeks of fishing. At a guess I would say there would have been about 12 people down there – certainly no more.

Beautiful scene Peter.Do you know if this is near Cheynes Beach.Deciding on organising a trip down there in Sept this year???

  • Hi Heather and very many thanks. The turn off is on the main road between Cheynes Beach and Albany, signposted Betty’s Beach. The first 7 or 8 kms then is bitumen followed by about the same amount of gravel, but it’s good gravel for driving and the views to the right across Two Peoples Bay are sensational. If you’re going to Cheynes Beach see if you can find your way to Waychinicup. By late September Cheynes Beach Road is one seething mass of wildflowers by the way!
    Take care

Great shot, see any salmon caught?

  • G’day Adrian and many thanks. Might have been a bit early in the season for salmon, but then I didn’t see anybody catch anything, despite trying hard LOL
    Cheers

Not only unspoilt beauty but also I very much like the strong vibrant colour contrasts in the image Peter, You also placed that guy in pole position for maximum visual impact, a nother beauty my friend,
    Regards, Rod.

  • Very many thanks Rod. I love stumbling across these unspoilt places and it’s quite amazing how many of them are still out there waiting to be found. That’s why I’m looking forward so much to my trip to Arnhem Land in June – it’s hardly known at all to white man and I’ve certainly not seen more than a handful of photos of it.
Two days of summer left here but at least it’s about to start warming up again after several days of chilly (for us) weather when it hasn’t got above about 25 deg. all day.
Take care and my regards to Chris

Betty’s Beach is beautiful to say the least

  • Hi Loree and many thanks. It is indeed a beaurtiful place with hardly a footprint to be seen in the sand! Was a real treat to see it again after close on 40 years!
    Hope all is well
