Yes folks, a brand new beach for me and I would hazard a guess and say it’s the first time it’s been seen on the Bubble! I was driving from Pemberton to Albany, in the far south west of Western Australia. Due to a large bush fire which prevented me from visiting the D’Entrecasteaux National Park at Windy Harbour I decided on a gravel tracked detour to Mandalay Beach, which is on the Southern Ocean at the far eastern fringe of the park. From the parking area is quite a long walk, ending in a flight of some 100 steps down to the magical Mandalay Beach. This time, having walked the couple of hiundred metres of so across the firm sand, I decided to do an exploratory climb across the rocks and soon realised I was in for a special treat – after all these years I had found myself a new beach!! LOL Not another soul to be seen, not even another footprint in the sand. I truly did have it all to myself and proceeded to give my camera it’s head and record practically every square inch of beach, rocks, etc. So this is just one of about 250 photos I took in that wonderful hour or so of unforgettable magic!

Have you entered our NEW CHALLENGE Would love to see your work in the challenge
Thanks very much Andrea and I’ll check out your challenges for sure. The trouble with there being so many groups nowadays is trying to do the right thing by all of them!

Lovely find Peter, you must have felt like an explorer :) Looking forward to seeing more images of this lovely beach
Hi Mik and many thanks for the kind words. You’re right – I DID feel a bit like an explorer, not only for the new beaches I was finding but also in discovering how far I could push myself nowadays. In that regard I was thrilled to bits, especially when you consider that just a few weeks ago I couldn’t walk for longer than about 5 minutes before having to sit down! Now here I was walking long distances and clambering all over rocks and down and up LONG flights of steps. It’s been a great feeling!
Take care

Hi Larry and very many thanks old buddy. I found two or three new (to me) beaches on last week’s trip – and that’s after visiting the area for close to 40 years!!

It’s a terrific shot Pete and I enjoyed your description too. Well done Mate. Are you on the mend now????
G’day buddy – great to see you again and many thanks for the visit and generous comment. Don’t know whether I am officially on the mend or not but I certainly feel great and those few days away last week did me a power of good. Still have to have a two day booster does of chemo once a fortnight for the rest of my life but that’s no hassle and I can always have a few weeks off it if I want. (Like when I do a coach tour of Tasmania in a few weeks time) Meantime I’ve enjoyed being out and about and putting my new wide angle zoom lens to a week of constant use!
Hope all is well with you and I’m sorry I can’t get to the other site – it’s just that living alone is not the life of leisure I thought it would be – there always seems to be a mountain of work to get through around the place, plus a daily couple of hours with Betty at the nursing home.
Anyway old mate, you take care and continue to keep in touch eh?
Cheers

This beach is not to far from me. I’ve seen a sign to it – 8Kms off the SW Highway between Manji and Walpole. I really must trot off down there. It looks beautiful and this is a lovely capture Peter.
Many thanks Elaine. Actually it is further away than you think, with the turn off being being a mere 10/12 kms from Walpole – and that’s followed by about 8 k’s of gravel. But it’s all very well worth while and whatever you do, don’t baulk at the 80 or 90 steps to get down there! I posted a few photos of Mandalay over the past 12 months and all will be tagged for easy finding. This particular little beach is across the rocks and you wouldn’t know it was there! I found a similar situation down at Little Beach a few days later with another beach I never before knew of!
Hope you are now well recovered and off out with your camera once again
Take care

Hi Peter, Great beach again your so lucky to find this one, you would never find a deserted beach like that hear, truly beautiful place you have found.
All the Best Mate,
Mike in fav’s
Hiya Mike and many thanks for both comment and fave. 6 or 7 weeks ago I couldn’t walk for more than 5 minutes without having to sit down and have a rest. Since those days I have taken to walking around the block most mornings (two and a half kms) and last week I was walking miles across beaches, up and down LONG flights of steps and clambering over hordes of rocks. And never once did I need a break! A great feeling, for sure.
Take care old buddy
