This rather ricketty looking structure looks out across the Southern Ocean at Sand Patch near Albany, Western Australia, some 450 kms south of Perth. To get to it I had walked a couple of hundred metres from the wind farm car park to the coastal boardwalk, then another 150 metres or so to a converging boardwalk and finally down 245 steps (I counted them!) Had I wanted to get down to the beach there was another flight of at least 400 steps to negotiate. I decided to do that another day! There was not another soul around apart from a couple of surfies way below me. Needless to say I walked on to this lookout and leaned on the rails gazing out to sea for about 15 minutes before tackling the 245 steps back to the top. My camera was the Sony A55, aperture priority, 16-80 Zeiss lens, nd8 filter, hand held and the time of day was late afternoon.
Thanks old buddy. I went up and down so many steep flights of steps in that 2 weeks I was almost doing it in my sleep! Not many places down that way seem to have direct, level access to a beach. Cheers mate
Beautiful shot, Peter. I love the way the boardwalk leads your eye to the vastness and colour of the ocean. By the way, a little birdie told me that you have a birthday this week. Congratulations.
Good morning Adrian and very many thanks. Those little birdies – just don’t know how to keep their mouths shut do they!! LOL Thanks mate. Regards Peter
What a lovely vista Peter. Hope you are well by the way. :))
Many thanks Angie. All OK but it’s a long weekend with several family visits to add to the work load! LOL Very welcomed though. After today we should get back to normal. take care Peter
Beautiful looking beach Peter – the colours are glorious ! You certainly live in a great part of Aussie. My father was born in Subiaco, Perth of British migrant parents. My grandpappy is buried in Karakatta Cemetary.
I remember you telling me about your father, but not about your grandad. many thanks for the great words Roy – this area is some 500 kms from chez moi (you didn’t know I spoke French, I bet!) so it’s out of range for a day trip sadly. Cheers Peter

A beauiful shot of a stunning coastline!
Hi Margaret and many thanks. It’s a heck of a long way down those cliffs to the ocean but it doesn’t seem to deter the surfers.
Take care
