To visit the Nitmiluk National Park and cruise the Katherine River, in Australia’s Northern Territory near the town of Katherine, has long been a dream of mine and I was thrilled to at last get to do it as part of the recent trip I had. The gorge is in five parts and we got to do the first two, which are rated as the best. It was a two hour cruise and our skipper was a Spaniard named Manuel who came from Barcelona!! He was great – told us he came out here for a holiday seven years ago, fell totally in love with this river and has been here more or less ever since.
Gorges are a big feature of our Top End and on this river they are impressive indeed.
I was using my Sony DSC R1 in aperture priority with the lens at as wide an angle as possible (24 mm only on my camera)
