We’ve had this jacaranda tree in our front garden for some 15 years or more and it’s only in the last couple of years that it has started to flower. Jacarandas are always at their best during the period mid November to mid December and this is the beautiful sight that greets us whenever we open our front door – plus we see it from our living room window. In the old days of film this colour was very difficult to reproduce accurately but nowadays our digital cameras take it all in their stride.

    Lovely tree
we actually have a few of these around town but only on the higher ground

  • I think over your side Grafton is the place for jacarandas isn’t it? They grow very well out here as a rule and in some of our older suburbs there are streets lined with them on both sides. Now THAT is a real picture! Thanks for the visit Julie. Peter

They are such beautiful trees, how lovely to have one in your garden. Nice hsot Peter

  • Thanks very much Mik. Our eldest son bought this for us some 15 or more years ago. We planted it straight away and for the first 12 years it stood there without a single flower. Now, at last, we have got something to show for it and it’s a beauty!

bright and wonderful and such a great colour, dawnx

  • Very many thanks Dawn. At certain times of the day it casts a real glow over the front garden. Only trouble is that it’s incredibly messy when it’s flowers start to fall! Take care, Peter

Beautiful!!! goreous tree and wonderful blossom. I once grew one of these from a seed (large seed at that) which came back with us from Africa. It did grow but it never flowered. This is wonderful. hugsxxx

  • Hi Hilary and many thanks for the visit and comment. The countryside around here is full of these trees, as well as the West Australian Christmas tree which has vivid orange coloured flowers. We’ve had this Jacaranda for over 15 years and it’s only the last couple of seasons that it has started to flower. The only drawback to them is that their flowers fall and blow all over the place, more or less forming a purple carpet over everything! Take care, Peter
