Nuytsia Floribunda, otherwise known as the West Australian Christmas Tree. This is the first one I have seen this season and they are lining both sides of the road as you drive through the Yanchep National Park some 50+kms north of Perth.
They are actually a member of the mistletoe family but despite spending many hours standing beneath them I’ve never yet been kissed!!
They are also parasites and feed off other plants and trees. Early aboriginals loved to eat the roots which were said to taste a bit like candy – I can’t vouch for that though!
