For this photo I was using my newly purchased Sony DSC R1 – bought on Ebay to replace the one I had stolen last year. This is, without doubt, the finest bridge camera on the market – 10.2 mps, a monster CMOS sensor and a superb 24-120 Carl Zeiss Vario Sonnar lens. It was just so good to be holding one of these in my hands again. This came with a CP filter but I have ordered a x4 neutral density filter which I think works better in our country, where the glare can be pretty intense.
This was taken on the West Australian coast at Guilderton – about 100 kms north of Perth and just under 50 kms from our home. Guilderton is a small settlement comprising a caravan park and scores of holiday rental houses and a few weekenders. No doubt in time it will become densely populated but right now it is close to being idyllic..
