The scene ahead as we were walking to the “Big” tree – a huge, 400 years old hollowed out Red Tingle tree. Tingle trees only grow in one location and that is around the small country town of Walpole in the south west of Western Australia, which is also home to the world renowned tree top walk. On this occasion we were in a different part of the forest but one that we love dearly and never fail to visit whenever we are in the area.
Walpole is something like 450 kms south of Perth and the last hour of the journey down is a tree lover’s paradise.

awesome capture Peter a place i must visit i’m always saying i must get there but never do. is it closer to walpole or denmark

  • Hi Carol and good to see you again. This particular section is at the top of Treetop Road, just the other side of Walpole townsite and the Treetop walk is about 10 k’s further on, beyond Nornalup. Both are quite a long way from Denmark (Walpole is 60 k’s west of Denmark).

Amazing shot, lovely lighting and scene, looks like a great place for a walk:)

  • Thanks very much Els. It’s a round walk of about a km, give or take, and we never tire of it. At one stage you walk right through the middle of a tree!! All the best, Peter

    Beautifully captured Peter.

  • Many thanks Elaine and this is yet another of Walpole’s attractions. It’s a sadly under rated little place, for sure. Peter
