We visited the Walyunga National Park yesterday – it’s about 70 kms from our home and about 80 from Perth, Western Australia. We thought that after some good winter rains the river would be running well and we were not disappointed.
This is the Swan River, just a kilometer or so down from the meeting point of the Avon and Brockman Rivers, which combine to become the Swan. It then flows on, passing Bells Rapids and Middle Swan before working it’s way down to Perth and emptying out into the Indian Ocean at Fremantle.
Two weeks ago this was a section of the annual and world renowned white water Avon Descent. This is a two day event that attracts over 800 entries and is incredibly demanding of both men and their boats. It also attracts thousands of spectators and we wouldn’t have got near this area then.

Good capture of this fellow in action! Glad it’s him not me in that busy water!!! :)
Hi Anne-Marie and very many thanks. We had a most enjoyable day out in beautiful warm and sunny weather and the river was looking good. Hugs

Awesome spot! I went through Regans Ford again on Sunday and its un-crossable by about a metre and flowing really quick
Thanks Daniel. WOW – that would have been a sight worth seeing, for sure. We were there a year ago almost to the day and the water was about half a metre below the level of the ford then! Have you been up to Mt Leseur yet? The wildflowers will be great there now. Peter

you really must stop doing these extreme sports at your age Peter. LOL Well taken my dear friend Hugs.x
It was either that or bungy jumping so I spun a coin to decide which! LOL Many thanks for the visit and it is always such a pleasure to hear from you. Hugs

Lovely shot Peter, looks like fun, did you have a go mate?
No way! LOL I had been watching a couple of novices with an instructor and they spent more time IN the water than out – and that would have been COLD!! Two weeks before there had been over 800 contestants taking part in the annual two day Avon Descent – and they would have come through here on the second day. Would like to have seen it but the crowds were vast! Many thanks for the visit and kind words mate. Peter
