The Whitsundays is an area where it is physically impossible to stop yourself from taking photos! For example, who could resist a scene like this? And this is just one of countless similar shots to be had in the area around Shute Harbour and Airlie Beach. This region is about an hour south of Townsville in far north Queensland and around 1000 kms north of the capital, Brisbane. It is a true tropical paradise that is always a big wrench to have to leave.
Beautiful image Peter, Airlie and the islands are just stunning. I remember going diving on the Whitsundays around 8 or 9 years ago. We stayed on Hook Island and the weather was so bad that in the morning the only craft still afloat in the small harbour was our catamaran. Happy memories lol = )
Thanks Wayne and that is quite a story! We didn’t land on Hook Island on our cruise but they did put us ashore on an uninhabited island for lunch.
Thanks Larry. It’s a wonderful part of our country – just a pity it is nearly 5000 kms from where I live! Obviously we don’t get over there too often so REALLY make the most of it when we can.
