Bridge at Pot Alley Gorge by

The mid West Australian coast around Kalbarri is particularly rugged and the constant action of wind, waves, and tides over many millions of years have created several stunning coastal gorges as well as three or four amazing creations. This bridge is one such creation and is only visible at low tide. In this photo the setting sun was bouncing off the rocks behind me and creating a most wonderful setting that I and a couple of other photographers were taking full advantage of. Kalbarri is a popular fishing cum holiday township 150 kms north of Geraldton and getting on for 600 kms north of Perth. As well as it’s coastal gorges it is also famed for some stunning river gorges

Fabulous shot! Looks so much like our African sunsets!

  • Thanks Mariaan. Living as we do on the west coast we get some great sunsets at times. In this case we were on holiday and it was a bit of a bonus!! Peter

WOW Peter! This is a spectacular shot. Have fond memories of Kalbarri. Is that lovely fountain still outside the pub? Rode my bike up there once…..downfall was it overheated in the rain and had to put it on a truck to get there. Trip back to Perth was fine

  • Hi Claire. It’s amazing how very often we don’t see that which is right under our noses and I honestly can’t say that I have ever noticed the fountain! Shall have a closer look next time we are up that way. Thanks for the visit and comment. Peter.

OH MY, a fabulous sunset to an waesome, stunning view!

  • Hello Eye and very many thanks. I think scenes like this are regular occurrences to the locals so they don’t think anything of them – consequently when we got back to the B&B and raved over this no one seemed particularly interested! LOL Peter
