The Fitzgerald River National Park. down in the deep south of Western Australia, has some of the finest Southern Ocean beaches one could ever hope to see. This particular beauty is East Mylies and, as is the case with so many of our beaches, it’s main attraction lies in it’s sheer isolation. The ocean here is so clean and pure coming, as it does, straight off the Antarctic.
The nearest civilisation would be the tiny coastal township of Hopetoun with the larger town of Ravensthorpe some 50 inland kms further away. It would be some 600 kms or so south of Perth.
I took this back in 2007 using my Sony DSC R1 in aperture priority with an nd4 filter attached to the 24-120 Carl Zeiss fixed lens. Pot processing was in Dynamic Photo HDR with a couple of finishing tweaks in CS3.
