Cape Freycinet

Cape Freycinet

Another spot on the Cape to Cape walking trail that stretches from Cape Naturaliste to Cape Leeuwin in the far south west of Western Australia. Access is the Lake Cave turn off on Caves Road. Instead of then turning in to the cave keep going along the sometimes rough and rather corrugated dirt road. There are a few side turnings, some of which are worth having a look down, but for now keep going straight and you’ll eventually come to this point. There’s not an awful lot to see but you will at least have achieved something!
It can get very rough down here so it’s perhaps not the best idea in the world to go clambering over those rocks because massive king waves can suddenly rear up out of nowhere and drag the unwary out with them.
At this point you would be something like 380kms+ south of Perth and about 25 minutes from Cape Leeuwin

Your sea scenes are so pretty

Thank you Julie. Your lovely words are very much appreciated. This is a really out of the way place that doesn’t get very many visitors. I’m so glad you like it. Take care, Peter

It sure does look threatening. Great shot and as usual and interesting description.

Thanks very much Adrian. It was, in fact, a beautiful day and that cloud bank had dispersed totally by the time we got to Hamelin Bay which in effect was only just down the road!
    Best wishes
    Peter

I guess because UI live in a pretty dry part of the country that has been in
drought for about 8 years Im a bit partial to sea scapes and I love the the different shades of blue especially this photo
Wide Brown land describes here pretty well most of the time but there is some lovely scenery around here just different to your coastal shots

I know your area and from what I remember there is some beautiful country scenery around those parts. We spent a couple of weeks in the area back in 1983 and were very taken with it all. Somewhere I still have all the slides I took during that period.

This is magic Peter … it looks like a painting!♥

I actually toyed with the idea of using a painterly effect on this and may still do it for a bit of fun! Thanks so much for the comment – between you and me it’s taken me nearly 8 months to make up my mind to post this in RB – I didn’t think anyone would be too rapt in it!

Told you Peter, your not lost if the road is corrugated!! haha, nice shot of a nice place, never get tired of our coastline!

  • georgieboy98 replied

This really WAS a bad road when we did it back in March. Don’t know how it would be now after the winter rains. There are some interesting looking little sections of the coast leading off that track that I have earmarked for exploration at some future date. Thanks for commenting. Regards

AWESOME!!!! Moody, romantic and stunning. HDR?

  • georgieboy98 replied

Thanks heaps Marita, both for the comment and also for the fave. A few clouds make one heck of a difference to a photo don’t they?

  • georgieboy98 replied

Sorry – not HDR – but it’s an interesting thought. Might do that to see how what difference it makes.

Very pretty spot. Love how the sky just dives right into the ocean horizon with these steaming clouds. Well done Peter. Cheers, S.

Many thanks Sandra. It’s way off the beaten track and this was our first ever visit, despite passing reasonably close countless times over the years. It’s great to find new places, especially when they’re in an area you think you know off by heart! LOL
