Observatory Beach

Another part of the magnificent coastal scenery of Esperance in the far south east of Western Australia. Located on the edge of the mighty Southern Ocean in the Recherche Archipelago, Esperance is the principal holiday town for the Goldfields and also for those residents of Perth who don’t mind the 750 kms drive. These days, however, more and more people fly down (an hour and a half) and rent a car on arrival.
Many world travellers who include Esperance on their itinerary say without hesitation that the beaches here are by far the best they have seen anywhere and who am I to argue with that!
This photo was taken from the car park at Observatory Point, about 8 kms out of town, and we are looking west along the seemingly endless line of beaches that stretches into infinity.

    They dont get any better than the beaches in Esperance (in my opinion). Stunning shot here, I grew up in a town two hours drive from here, I used to spend many weekends at these beautiful waters. Nice work.

    G’day Shaun. The main holiday season was long finished when I took this but even so there were people down there. It’s just that the beaches are all pretty big and there’s so many of them that what people there are tend to get well spread out. very many thanks for the visit and comment. Peter

    A beautiful beach and coastal composition Peter, love the marine colours in the sea and that beautiful almost white sand looks a dream, it does remind me a little of the view from above Sennen Cove looking along the beach towards Cape Cornwall, beautifully captured,

    This coast is not so ruggedly beautiful as the coast line of south west England but I can see what you mean, for sure. Did I tell you I have just recently had comments from three more people in your area? Newton Abbot, Totnes and Paignton. I have suggested to all three that they visit your photos.
