Seascape

Seascape

Taken this afternoon with my new Sony alpha 350 dslr As yet I don’t have a polarising or neutral density filter and either, or both, is a must. The Indian Ocean rolls in at Guilderton, some 90+ kms north of Perth, Western Australia. The sky was added from my files as in reality it was a brilliant shade of blue with not a cloud to be seen, with the result there wasn’t a heck of a lot of colour contrast in the shot...

Seascape belongs to the following groups:

Beach Art, SEA, UK to Australia and Back and Waves Available for sale as

Greeting Cards, Laminated Prints and Framed Prints

Absolutely beautiful mate, the blues and whites are gorgeous and the wave action is superb, nicely composed too, nice one Peter..

  • georgieboy98 replied

Thanks very much Jason. This is the first chance I’ve had to try this camera out so it’s a case of seeing what it can do. Peter

    Peter, a superb shot!

  • georgieboy98 replied

Thanks a lot Colin, both for the kind words and also for the fav.. I was standing on the beach and used about 100 mm of zoom. This beach shelves quite sharply so the waves break closer to the shore. Peter

How wonderful. Makes a beautiful framed print! The aquas and blues are just gorgeous :-)

  • georgieboy98 replied

Very many thanks and it remains to be seen whether anyone will buy it! It was really just an experimental shot to see what the camera was capable of. Peter

Great seascape, good luck with the new Sony. I think you miss the R1

  • georgieboy98 replied

G’day Warren and many thanks mate. Too right I miss the R1. The insurance company are going to replace all three stolen cameras but I don’t know what with. They won’t be able to find an R1 in a hurry now, that’s for sure. Peter

Wow ! How many blues ? Just terrific work mate, has to be a fave : )

  • georgieboy98 replied

Aw – thanks heaps mate. This was almost the first seascape I had taken with the new Sony so it was largely experimental. I used the 55-200 kit lens for all today’s shots. The other supplied lens is an 18-70 which I’ve been testing out on a few wildflowers. Peter

Peter, just had a good read of your profile – I’ve been to Yanchep. I used to live in Perth. Sorry I left now.
I read in your profile: ”...an Olympus C750UZ (an excellent 4 mp camera that I still carry around as a back up)” – I own the C760, bought around 4 years ago. All my photos are taken with it, I simply love it – brilliant little 10x optical zoom camera. I’ve been looking at an SLR and thinking of the Evolt Olympus series but for now I’m simply enjoying my little Oly.

  • georgieboy98 replied

Our sleepy little Yanchep is growing at an alarming rate now and it won’t be the same!! The National Park hasn’t changed, though and that is where I take over 50% of my photos these days. Where abouts in Perth did you live?
Sadly the C750 was one of the cameras that were stolen in the break in a couple of weeks ago. However the Insurance Company have agreed to replace all my cameras so it will be interesting to see how they are going to do it.
We have fond memories of a week spent in Toowoomba in 1987, especially one idyllic Sunday afternoon spent at Picnic Point listening to the band playing all the old Glenn Miller tunes! The only thing I wasn’t keen on was lugging our caravan up the hill to get there!! Best wishes, Peter

Oh Peter, that’s such a pity. Yes, it will be interesting to see what happens re replacement since those C700s etc are all gone as far as I know. Yes, I’ve got a pic up “Sunrise looking towards Brisbane,” taken from Picnic Pt. Nice spot. In Perth we lived in Maddington and South Perth.

A wonderful result with the new camera Peter, just love the freshness of that wonderful range of marine colour tones contrasted by the breaking surf, a FAV for me.
Good luck with the new camera, I’m still reading the manual and getting to know mine, if the weather wasn’t so dull, I’d be out there taking a few shots with it but I may well try it on something that doesn’t rely on sunlight,
    Regards, Rod.

  • georgieboy98 replied

Thanks very much Rod, both for the comment and the Fav. I know the feeling about the weather playing up when you are itching to try out a new camera – it did that to me for 4 consecutive days after mine was delivered. That is something that NEVER happens out here! LOL All the best, Peter

WOW! Peter. You really know how to take a person’s breath away. What a stunning capture you have here. I may purchase this one for my wife as a Christmas present. She love pictures of breaking waves, and this is the best one I’ve seen in ages. Marvellous. Don.

  • georgieboy98 replied

I am delighted that you like it Don – thanks very much for the appreciation. I’m almost ashamed to tell you it was a trial shot with a new camera! LOL All the best mate, Peter

Georgie, I understand you so well….:)))....I have been photographing the sea all my life! Before the digital era I used to spend so much money on film just taking sea shots. It is always so rewarding to go near the sea and absorb its energy:))

  • georgieboy98 replied

We have lived close to the sea and/or ocean all our lives with the result that about 75% of all the photos I take have that main theme. Incidentally my name is Peter – georgieboy98 is just a computer name that I use on Webshots and other sites. Peter
