Boomerang Gorge
This is the same trail on which we were walking yesterday afternoon when I spotted the Fairy Orchids. It is an incredibly old part of the Yanchep National Park, 50 kms north of Perth, Western Australia and a mere 4 kms from our home. It is believed to be the remnants of an ancient cave system (there are well over 100 caves in the park, of which just one is open to the public on a regular basis).
I am still waiting for my new camera to be delivered following the theft of my R1 so this photo was taken with my little Olympus digital 500 compact and given a few tweaks in Photoshop plus a touch of HDR
Boomerang Gorge belongs to the following groups:
Landscape Photography, Perth and UK to Australia and Back Available for sale asGreeting Cards, Laminated Prints and Framed Prints

Nothin’ wrong with the little Olympus Peter – I have had 3 over the years and they stood me in great stead. Beautiful shot.
georgieboy98 replied
Thanks Rosalie. One of the cameras that was stolen was also an Olympus – a C750UZ that I’d had for about 4 years. That was a great camera and was my No 1 back up to the R1. But I’m still going to miss the R1. Peter

What a lovely place and a great shot.
georgieboy98 replied
Wonderful of you to say so Irene. Very many thanks. It’s 5 minutes from home and a walk we like to do frequently, but not in summer when a) it is VERY hot in there and b) there’s a fair few venomous snakes around. Peter

Now why didn’t I think of that??? LOL Thanks kid and I am delighted that this is to your liking. If I don’t get the chance to be in touch again this week I hope you enjoy touring round all those beautiful little fishing villages and other coastal communities, that you stuff yourselves silly with scones, strawberry jam and clotted cream, that the weather is kind to you and that you take a million photos (only if you do please don’t expect me to comment on all of them in one hit!). And I’m not in the least but jealous – you know that!! Grrrrrrrr Hugs, Peter

The Aussie bush walk, you can’t beat it. I’m sure I’ve got some pics of Ku-Rin-Gai Chase Nat Park near Sydney somewhere, gonna have to open some boxes, lovely image mate : )
georgieboy98
Thanks Wayne. I hope you can find those photos because back in ‘83 we spent some time in a caravan park not all that far from the Chase but the weather was anti and I never got any pictures. Peter

An amazing range of colours in this beautiful and natural landscape scene Peter, that HDR effect really makes those colours pop but the detail and textures you captured are equally impressive,Regards, Rod.
georgieboy98 replied
Hi again Rod. I know it’s hard to believe but these colours are virtually as taken with only the mildest touch of HDR. I tried it on several other settings but it went way over the top so I stuck with the ‘Photographic’ setting. There is another setting below that called ‘Human Eye’ but even that tended to overdo it. What I DID use was the warming filter in PS3. This was to replace the natural effect I used to get with the ND4 filter on my Sony R1 – oh I’m missing that camera!! Peter
JayVee
Nicely worked Peter. Good to see you keep coming back with these beautiful images.
georgieboy98
Thanks Jay. It was just sheer luck that I had one camera with me in the car the day the rest of my kit was stolen from our house. Peter

Nice to get out & see some colour at this time of year eh?
Went up to New Norcia last weekend and the canola fields were superb

Hi Andy and good to see you again. Thanks for dropping in and commenting. Did you go down Old Plains Road while you were up there? It’s supposed to be the best wildflower road in the state. We did it two or three years ago and it was magnificent. It connects New Norcia with Toodyay.
