Never take pictures on a bright sunny day, when there are no clouds in the sky.

Well, I broke some “rules” here with a picture of the old stone church at the locality of Currawong, not far from Harden, on the S-W slopes of NSW. St. Marks if I recall correctly, built in the late 1800s. So, I had a muck around with it a bit to try and create the effect of a Full Moon and added a few textures to enhance the stonework. A larger view gives more detail.

Nikon D80, Sigma 17-70mm lens @ 28mm, ISO 400, 1/400 sec @ f 10, Pattern metering. Mucked around with in PaintShop Pro X5.

An old photographer and his dog trying to find what turns a photograph into a worthwhile picture. Perhaps try to take a worthwhile photograph in the first place? The digital darkroom is a creative, fascinating place. If only I could learn to use it and the cameras I have to best effect… I love “mucking around”, as you can see!

Now, you know all my stuff is Copyright If you try and pinch any of it, I’ll jump through your screen and rip your bloody arms off!

A beautifully created image George of this wonderful old church!!! I love to see these ~ besides much peace ~ I believe them to have much character and hold many undisclosed stories….

  • Thanks very much, Sharon – I’m pleased you like the results of my mucking around. With over 100 years of history, this old church would have many stories to tell. :)george

I’m a big fan of photomanip and photo enhancement…I think they are so much fun! Loooove the composition here and the textures are perfect….wonderful and creative! Great work George! ;-)

  • Thanks very much for the fave and encouraging comments from an expert in the field, Marie! Most times it’s hard to know where to start and stop, experimenting with different effects. The program I use has great potential – I’m only dipping my toe in the water so far… scary and exciting! :)george
