Wind it up. Set the speed to 78 r.p.m. Gently place the steel needle on the HMV bakelite record. Listen to the wonderful music it produces! Play with the speed for some interesting effects. Where do you think Alvin & the Chipmunks got their ideas from? Found at the Regional Museum in Junee, NSW. A real treasure trove and well worth a visit time and again to take it all in!

An old photographer and his dog trying to find what turns a photograph into a worthwhile picture. Perhaps try to take a worthwhile photograph in the first place? The digital darkroom is a creative, fascinating place. If only I could learn to use it and the cameras I have to best effect… I love “mucking around”, as you can see!

Now, you know all my stuff is Copyright If you try and pinch any of it, I’ll jump through your screen and rip your bloody arms off!

Seen better days but sadly I do remember these! Wonderful nostalgic find.

  • Yes, back in the olden days, friends had one of these that we kids mucked around with and ruined the odd record in the process! But it was all good fun…. Thanks for pointing me in the direction of this Museum, Rosalie – it’s a real treasure trove! :)george

OH My Goodness george, I remember those days so well, bring EM back a terrific idea\
  • Well, Malcolm, LP records are making a comeback among audiophiles, who appreciate a more natural sound. At least with a wind-up model, power outages are not a problem – they may yet return! :)george
