Another one for the Ladies!

Found in a 1958 Soviet government publication: “DOMOBODCTBO” (Housekeeping) while sorting some old books…

A Sony W 630 Auto Intelligent shot, processed in PaintShop Pro X5

An old photographer and his dog trying to find what turns a photograph into a worthwhile picture. Perhaps try to take a worthwhile photograph in the first place? The digital darkroom is a creative, fascinating place. If only I could learn to use it and the cameras I have to best effect… I love “mucking around”, as you can see!

Now, you know all my stuff is Copyright If you try and pinch any of it, I’ll jump through your screen and rip your bloody arms off!

Actually the styles are surprisingly timeless … similar outfits can be seen in magazines today. Perhaps the fashion cycle has once again begun to reach ‘full circle’. Again, an ideal ‘postcard’.

  • Thanks, Rosalie! Maybe the latest “fashionistas” have found a copy of this book?! I must confess to not being up with the latest trends in women’s clothing. Or men’s for that matter, many will say… :)george

I love these styles George!! So elegant (and slimming).
I must agree with Rosalie’s comment ~ the styles never seem to outdate ~ and come around in cycles.
What a great find ~ and a terrific capture by you ….
Happy New Year to you :o))

  • Happy New Year to you too, Sharon! Glad you like this style from the 50s – I must confess to not having seen it of late, but then, I don’t go around in High Fashion circles! :)george

  • Thanks very much for the fave, Anna! These appeared in a book and you are probably right that there wouldn’t have been too many shops with mannequins back then! :)george

my mum had those magasins too! I remember leafing through them as a child. I doubt she has then now – the stove at her dacha always need some paper to kick start.
    Great find and capture!

  • Thanks very much for the fave, Irina! These came out of a book on “Good Housekeeping”, found when doing some sorting. There are a few more such pictures available to be posted – I won’t include the ones on how to milk a cow or make pirojzki – which all good housewives had to do! :)george
