CTAPOE DEPEBO B TYMAHE (Old Tree in the Mist) by

An early misty morning in the Wattle Range on the Limestone Coast of South Australia. The birds had already taken up their vantage points on the highest branches of this old tree, waiting for the mists to rise and the sun to warm them.

This picture took 1st Place in the Monochrome Landscape Section at the Cootamundra Show, October 2012.

Nikon D80, Sigma 17-70mm OS @ 58mm, CPL, Aperture Priority, 1/125 sec @ f 8, ISO 200, Centre Weighted, Auto Exposure & WB. Converted to B&W in Photoshop Elements 3.

An old photographer and his dog trying to find what turns a photograph into a worthwhile picture. Perhaps try to take a worthwhile photograph in the first place? The digital darkroom is a creative, fascinating place. If only I could learn to use it and the cameras I have to best effect… I love “mucking around”, as you can see!

Now, you know all my stuff is Copyright If you try and pinch any of it, I’ll jump through your screen and rip your bloody arms off!

    Outstanding George.

  • Thanks very much Julie – I’m glad this has found its way into your Favourites! I have a colour version, of course, but thought the mists would be better expressed in B&W. :)george

Nice one George, I appreciate the reasons for the birds to be where they are.

  • Thanks Phil – the magpie has the high spot, galahs on the lower ones. I’m not sure what they can see in the fog, but I guess they have a bird’s eye view! :)george
