Troubador by George Petrovsky

Currently unavailable for purchase

Performing at the Easter Markets at Beachport, on the Limestone Coast of South Australia, he was a true troubador – a traveling storyteller. He sang and played his guitar with spirit and soul. A very interesting fellow to have a chat to as well.

Nikon D80, Sigma 17-70mm OS lens @ 28mm, 1/60 sec @ f 7.10, ISO 100, Custom Program, Pattern metering, Auto Exp & WB. Cropped and processed in Photoshop Elements 3, adding one of my own texture backgrounds.

An old photographer and his dog trying to find what turns a photograph into a worthwhile picture. Perhaps try to take a worthwhile photograph in the first place? The digital darkroom is a creative, fascinating place. If only I could learn to use it and the cameras I have to best effect… I love “mucking around”, as you can see!

Now, you know all my stuff is Copyright If you try and pinch any of it, I’ll jump through your screen and rip your bloody arms off!

Wonderful story telling in this image George. He looks like he is totally entranced and lost in his sounds and his vision; something that in most cases only musicians can relate to. And I say with due respect “in most cases” as most of the average Joe’s out there cannot relate to a musician’s vision when he/she performs with their eyes closed. But I can tell that this fellow was seeing more than he could possibly tell in a tune. Great image and a wonderful capture of emotions. Like I said, great story telling. Love the title as well. Hany

  • Thanks Hany – I knew you would appreciate this picture as a musician and as an artist. An interesting and entertaining fellow from Guernsey, with a very down to earth view of the World, traveling the country but “local” at the moment. He was called in at virtually no notice when a band that been booked to perform at the Easter Markets failed to turn up!!! :)george

    Great candid shot George.

  • Not exactly candid Gail – I took quite a few shots of this bloke, some of which may appear later, but I’m glad you like this one. :)george

Really nice shot George, love the perspective. Were you down on the ground to get this shot? Is that what is called ’ falling for the music’ ? Well done, very nice presentation.

  • Down on one knee… I don’t always prostrate myself….. Thanks for the compliments Enivea, I’m pleased you like this picture and the mucking around with the background to bring out the troubadorial features.

  • Thanks very much for adding this picture to your favourites Vitta! Lucky for me, there was a very willing and photogenic subject ( who only complained to all listeners that he was being attacked by papparazzi!)
