Southern Higlands Winery Panorama by

One of the fringe benefits of taking people on Wine Tours, is that while they are getting happy tasting the wines, I’m happy to wander about taking pictures!

This, in the true sense, is not a panorama, in that I have only cropped the picture to concentrate on the main elements of the landscape. A bit of both the foreground and the sky have been trimmed in a 2:1 ratio.
This view looks South towards the Illawarra Highway, and up on the hill, surrounded by trees, is the water storage tank for the district.

Nikon D80, Sigma 17-70mm OS lens @ 32mm, hand held. 1/250 sec @ f 8,
ISO 100, Pattern metering, Auto exposure and WB. Cropped in PSE 3.

An old photographer and his dog trying to find what turns a photograph into a worthwhile picture. Perhaps try to take a worthwhile photograph in the first place? The digital darkroom is a creative, fascinating place. If only I could learn to use it and the cameras I have to best effect… I love “mucking around”, as you can see!

Now, you know all my stuff is Copyright If you try and pinch any of it, I’ll jump through your screen and rip your bloody arms off!

This is a terriffic shot George, I must admit had I been on the tour, I would have gotten distrated my the samples, LOL
    Greatshot

  • G’day Malcolm!
Glad you like the scenery here. On wine tours, towards the conclusion, there is scant regard for the scenery by the participants. Should they see something, it’s often a smidgin blurred! :)george

    Panoramic pulchritude George!!!
    Beautifully cropped and presented!!!

  • G’day Ken!
It’s been a while since I’ve posted any pulchritudinous pictures, so I’m very pleased you’ve approved of this one! This, of course. is how camera manufacturers used to claim “panoramic” capabilities for their basic cameras – a simple cropping screen within, but no zoom! :)george

Very scenic George. Of course, taking a tour by camel would give a different perspective again…

  • G’day Enivea!
Yes, it’s a lovely part of the world, quite different to yours. Yes, I could contemplate camel tours: One hump or two? A few bottles may suffer in the process and the OS/VR lens would be useful. :)george

    Excellent view George
Looks like the Ardeche in France

  • G’day John!
Glad you like this view. The French vineyards are many hundreds of years old – this one is a baby by comparison. While watching the Tour de France, there were some magnificent scenes from the air of various beautiful wine growing areas. We don’t get many French wines here. :)george
