The Inn was opened in 1836 in St.Albans, to the NW of Sydney NSW Australia.
It stands on the banks of the Macdonald River, which flows into the mighty Hawkesbury.

Less than 50 years after settlement by the English, Inns (or Pubs as we call them here) were springing up in the footsteps of the explorers. Shows where the priorities lay…and still do today! ;)

For many buildings, I find the use of minimal Poster Edges in my lowly PSE3
enhances the texture of the stonework.

An old photographer and his dog trying to find what turns a photograph into a worthwhile picture. Perhaps try to take a worthwhile photograph in the first place? The digital darkroom is a creative, fascinating place. If only I could learn to use it and the cameras I have to best effect… I love “mucking around”, as you can see!

Now, you know all my stuff is Copyright If you try and pinch any of it, I’ll jump through your screen and rip your bloody arms off!

  • G’day Vic! Yes, and the quality of workmanship has stood the test of time. Back then, buildings weren’t designed with a view to demolishing them 20 years later and putting up a block of offices or flats or some other “progressive development”! :)george

I love this old pub George – to me its the “Best Pub in the World”. You captured this from a great angle. I actually took a shot a couple of weeks ago across the road under the trees aiming at this corner but haven’t done anything with it as yet. I took another one on the far end with just the sign. We always stop by for a meal here (last time it was bangers and mash) and shared mine (6 sausages per serve) with the local dog who was most appreciative. For a good weekend away, stay at the old court house across the bridge – its haunted – I know first hand!!!!!!! Wonderful work – you are on my wave length!

  • G’day Bev! Thanks for dropping in to your favourite pub again via this pic. Sadly, the day there was a bit rushed – it would have been great to explore more of the area on foot, esp. the old court house.
All the more reason to come back for another visit! Your positive comments are muchly appreciated! :)george

Where are the 3 dogs George?! This came up a treat – love the perspective and lines, esp those created by the fence and shadows.

  • G’day Rosalie! It is with much humility and happiness that I see you have favourited this picture. Thank you most sincerely. The dogs were sleeping, so I let them lie – following the time honoured maxim!

George I just love St Albans and all the Hawkesbury region. All my ancestors came from the area and I love to visit their ghosts often.
