Here you were, thinking that the SMS is a recent phenomenon of the mobile or cell phone era. Back in 1927, this SMS was being propelled at 95 miles per hour on the race tracks of France!

This is the radiator cap and thermostat of the Salmson racing car, driven by Benzino Gasolini and Flashio Gordoni (see my previous captures of these heroes). The grotesque reflection is…. me! Taken at the recent 150 Years of Transport celebrations at the Bong Bong Racecourse on the outskirts of Bowral, in the Southern Highlands of NSW.

Nikon D80, Sigma 17-70mm lens, Program setting, 1/500 sec @ f 11, ISO 400, Pattern metering. Cropped & processed in PaintShop Pro X5.

An old photographer and his dog trying to find what turns a photograph into a worthwhile picture. Perhaps try to take a worthwhile photograph in the first place? The digital darkroom is a creative, fascinating place. If only I could learn to use it and the cameras I have to best effect… I love “mucking around”, as you can see!

Now, you know all my stuff is Copyright If you try and pinch any of it, I’ll jump through your screen and rip your bloody arms off!

lol! and I thought I would get a lesson on communication :)
    great capture and interesting info!
the frame on the image reminds me of the knife for cutting photo edges back in the olden days :)

  • Thanks muchly for the Fave, Irina! Looking around this old car, the last thing I expected to find was an SMS! The frame is one that I like using on “olden day” subjects – I have some old B&W photos with the same edging! :)george
