The torch flowers in our garden are just starting to come into bloom. This is one from 2010, the first year we tried them. Quite a popular plant here on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada.

Super sharp photo George. How tall are they really? They look to me to be taller than you unless you were lying flat out on the ground to take it!
    Cheers

  • That one was about 1.5 metres tall. That was the first year we had blooms on it, and today I counted 8 of them coming up. They grow an inch or two a day. The other plant has 7 coming up so it’ll really be nice when they all come out. I did squat a bit because I wanted the trees to be a soft background. Last year we had a few that were taller, probably close to 2 metres. Unfortunately the blooms don’t last very long, only a week or maybe 10 days.
