They call it Pilar Rock nowadays but when I grew up in Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada, it was called Old Scot Rock and I still prefer that name. It’s located on the western side of the island, a short way north from the village of Cheticamp, and accessed by a very short walk from the Cabot Trail. The Trail is one of the world’s great scenic drives, encircling the north end of the island and enclosing Cape Breton Highlands National Park. The water is the Gulf of St. Lawrence, which blends with the North Atlantic Ocean at the northern tip of the island.

Great looking capture of this unusual looking landscape. Wonderful writing too !!
Good evening Sean, good to hear from you! Many thanks for the fine comments, you know they are appreciated! Hope you’re feeling better these days. The winter rains have started here so it’s several months of gloom ahead..lol!
What a lovely view this is George. I can hear the waves crashing from here LOL. The colors are truly beautiful. A fave :>)) Leslie
Good morning Leslie, and many thanks for the lovely comments and the fave. That’s one of our special places to go to whenever we get back to Cape Breton. So nice to do as you say, just sit and listen to the waves. It was quite calm that day, I have some pics where it’s not so calm..lol! I’ll dig up one or two and post them too!
Nice, George ! How’d you manage to hang on to it so long without posting ? :)
Good Morning to you too Stan..though it’s almost noon down there! Glad you liked it, and don’t know why I missed posting it long ago. It’s a personal fave with me..must have tucked it away for a rainy day, and that came yesterday..lol!
