Long Road Ahead by

Leaving Westbank, on the shores of Lake Okanagan in south-central British Columbia, Canada. The road is Highway 97C, better known around here as the Coquihalla Connector, which runs westward and connects the Okanagan Valley to the Coquihalla Highway at the community of Merritt. After leaving Westbank the 100 kilometre stretch of road climbs for mile after mile until you wonder if it will ever level out! It finally does, about half-way across, but at this point it was still uphill.

Never been on the Coquihalla Hwy. George, that tells you how long it’s been since we’ve driven BC. This is lovely and I can just imagine driving along in our new CR-V going to the Island :-)))

  • Hi Vicki..this isn’t the Coq., it’s the connector road that joins the Coq. to the Okanagan. Did you just get the new wheels? Congratulations, guess you’re not going to hang up the spurs just yet..lol! If you drive this road, gas up first, there’s nothing on it but miles and miles! Good scenery, though.

we got the wheels just after returning from Alberta, and decided the Civic was NOT the car for Alaska. We were packed to the hilt, no room to anything and it wasn’t from my shopping, LOL. A camera and two lenses didn’t take up any room on my lap. So before she got any older (2010) we traded her off. Glad Fred didn’t do that to me 44 years ago, lol

  • Just looked at the specs on Google..very nice! I can’t keep up with the model numbers anymore! So did you part with the camper?
I picked the Suburu Outback for the same reason, small enough to be easy to handle, but when the seats are down you can pack an enormous amount of stuff in there and still be able to get at it. I also added a rooftop carrier for really long trips so we can pack stuff that we just won’t need until we get to the destination,or things like cold weather clothes when we start out in August and come back in November..lol! Not sure we’ll do that again, but who knows? Honda was one of my choices in 2005, so I flipped a coin and Suburu won..lol!

No George, we still love our camping. Going to Alaska though is much more economical with the CR-V. We are thinking of a roof rack too. Depends if we take Sneakers and a kennel or not. Have to think on that. I so want to take her, but tours make it difficult without a camper, so damned if you do and damned if you don’t. I hate leaving her for a month with someone. We are hoping to set the motor home on a seasonal site if we get drawn for one next summer. That way we can see our beautiful Caddy Lake and boat whenever, since they will stay at the lake. Thoughts,,,,,,,,,for now.
