When you see something like this in your side mirror, and you’re in the middle of a considerable wilderness, it’s not really a good sign. About half-way between Yoho National Park and Glacier National Park, British Columbia, Canada, on the Trans-Canada Highway, traffic ground to a halt, and stayed that way for over an hour. Unfortunately there was an accident ahead, and both lanes were blocked. So there was little to do but admire the scenery, chat with the folks in other cars, and break out the food and coffee. Yes, we always travel with a supply of both, for just such times as this.

You must have had nice clean mirrors to take this great shot George . x

  • LOL! Well, I was going to get out of the car and take a few shots and then when I looked in the mirror I wondered how that sort of shot would work..! It actually was cleaned from a rainstorm some miles back, so I just fired away!!

We saw a line just like that at Rainier in August, fortunately it was not from an accident, unfortunately it was folks lined up to get into the park. Creative capture.

  • Thanks for your nice compliment Loisb. We were in between two National Parks, so we could have turned around and gone back to the last one but we’d already spent almost two weeks on the road so we took a lunch break instead :)>

LOL! I’d be twitching, George! I don’t do lineups very well. Great capture!

  • Oh, I was twitching too..in fact, I was on the cellphone to the Park HQ at Rogers Pass to try to find out what was happening. It won’t go into that, it was just too frustrating..they didn’t know any more than we did!
Later that day we found the TCH was totally blocked by a mudslide near Hope and THAT was a traffic mess, let me tell you..lol!
