Spray Lake Trail is a gravel road which starts at the town of Canmore, Alberta, Canada, and winds its way into the Rocky Mountains through a succession of Provincial Parks in what’s known generally as Kananaskis Country. This scene could be in Spray Lake Park or Peter Lougheed Provincial Park, but I had no way of knowing for sure. The weather was a mixture or rain, wind, some hail and even a few flakes of snow, but that only enhanced the mysterious grandeur of the mountain wilderness.

    Very nice, George !
Really like the way you’ve framed the shot with the road drawing the viewer into the picture. :)

  • Hi Stan..many thanks! That’s what you’d call a “driver’s view”..lol! I just stopped the car, put the lens tight against the windshield and fired away..it was just too cold to get out! It’s a great road for real wild mountain wilderness scenes, though pretty rough in places.

Wonderful shot George. I love the curved road, the beautiful trees and snow capped mountains. Well done my friend. What’s up with you guys?

  • Hi Teresa, and many thanks. It wasn’t a nice day for weather but I really enjoyed the stormy skies and actually preferred to have it that way for awhile. It did clear up a bit when we got down to Hwy. 40.
Well, Jann had to go to Ontario for almost 3 weeks, her Mom was quite sick, so she and her sister from Kamloops went together. It was a bit dicey for awhile but she recovered quite well. Unfortunately it meant we didn’t get to Nova Scotia this year as we’d planned, but couldn’t be helped. I’ve been working on my workshop renovation, slow but sure, and enjoying a very late and short summer. So neither of us have been on here very much but getting back into it now. Have you and John been anywhere since Canmore?

Just the sort of road and weather I like.

  • Many thanks Michael! I love that sort of thing too, as you might notice..I post a lot of wilderness scenes in what some folks would call “dirty weather”,but I love the drama and mystery that seems to envelope the landscape under those conditions.
