Out Of The Mists of Time by George Cousins

Driving down the long slopes from Vermilion Pass in Kootenay National Park, suddenly out of the mists and rain looms the massive bulk of Castle Mountain, which I always consider the gateway to Banff National Park. My personal favourite mountain in the Canadian Rockies, I was delighted to get this new perspective. The mountain is within the boundaries of Banff National Park, Alberta, Canada.

Great shot George……it is such a wonderful mountain !!

  • Good morning Sean, strange how one can develop feelings for a mass of rock, but I’ve always felt some sort of attachment to the Castle. I guess mostly because it is so imposing and really is the gateway to Banff and all the other beauties within it. At any rate, I can never resist more shots of it, no matter what the weather is like. And I like mysterious and dramatic weather pictures so it all works out well..:)))

  • Hello Regina, thanks very much for your kind comments. It’s really quite an awesome sight to see looming suddenly out of the rain clouds.

A truly lovely capture of Castle Mountain George! My wasn’t it wet some of those days….. :>)) Leslie

  • It sure was! Especially in Kootenay, though I love scenes where the mountains rise out of low clouds or disappear into the high ones. Or both..lol! And that day we had every variation possible. Glad you liked this one, I seem to be getting a collection of Castle shots, maybe one day I’ll have enough for a calendar..hehe!!
